The Bedale jacket is designed for horse riding. It is a short jacket, vented with 2 splits designed for sitting in the saddle and an elasticised cuff to hold cuff in position when horse riding and a neat fit with raglan shoulder line.
The shorter Bedale consequently does not as well on a taller customer as the proportions may look wrong. However, these design features made it an ideal jacket for the shorter/smaller framed customer as the proportion suits their height. It also looks well for on women looking for a looser fit, who love the original classic style over the newer female fitted style which Barbour have more recently introduced.
The Beaufort jacket is designed for shooting, similar looking to the Bedale, but it is a longer jacket, with raglan shoulder velcro cuff fastener and large game pocket at rear of jacket.
These features also suit someone looking for a jacket that will have good pockets for carrying multiple items out and about. It is also long enough to cover a suit jacket making it ideal to wear over a dress jacket/suit in any situations that could be subject to wet/wind/dirt but still need to be presentable for meetings and events.
The Border jacket is designed for fishermen a broad, loose, long fitting jacket which is nearly a coat. It has an easy shoulder line to accommodate the Fly fisherman and a velcro fastener on sleeve to assist fly movement. A good long jacket to offer protection in rivers, with removable and washable fish pockets (for the ones that don’t get away! )
It is also ideally suited to a large taller broader customer and will cover a suit/jacket comfortably. It also has significantly large internal pockets for quite bulky items to be carried.
